A new product called the Sunray Solar Roof Kit, from Cruise Car, will allow most golf carts to become solar powered vehicles. It will soon be available to golf courses, resorts any anyone who owns a golf cart. The solar panels can generate up to 180 watts and supply 3 amps directly to a 36 or 48 volt battery. Overall, this will increase the distance the cart can go on a single charge by 30%.
There are federal tax credits available for installing the solar kit. Cruise Car sells solar-powered small vehicles, including a couple different models of golf carts, in case you’d rather not install the conversion kit yourself.
You can also buy a pre-made Solar Powered Golf Cart.

I have converted my own golf cart using two 100 w solar panels and an MPPT solar charge controller. It was surprisingly easy and so far I have not had to charge my golf cart in over two weeks! If anyone is interested, I have DIY step by step directions on how to do it here: https://www.modernsurvivalists.com/how-to-convert-an-electric-golf-cart-to-solar-power-part-1/
hi im an engineering student and iv chosen to design a solar golf cart. where can I get the breaking down of the technology to help with my research. Thank u
This past May, Sebonack Golf Club in Southhampton, NY converted 39 of their 40 Golf carts into Solar. Earlier this year, the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course in Hong Kong became the first club in the world to outfit its entire fleet of golf carts with Solar tops. This is definitely a trend being set. While I am not familiar with Solar Drive, I am a dealer for a unique Peel and Stick Solar Golf Cart System that works on ANY golf cart. Custom Cart, Specialized Cart, EZ-GO, Club Car, Yamaha, etc. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me.
Solar power on golf cars is a very good idéa. The driving characteristics on a golf course with many stops and relative short distances fits solar charging well. However there are a couple of suppliers you can choose from. Personally I prefer the high quality design of SolarDrive – a Danish company who has become preferred partner to Club Car. SolarDrive have distributors and representatives all over the world. See for yourself at http://www.solardrive.com.
