Buying and Growing a Pandan Plant

I purchased a Pandan Plant (Pandanus amaryllifolius) from seller “vtay1906” on eBay for $45.

This was an expensive purchase, but I enjoy drinking Pandan and Lemongrass tea, so I wanted to grow a Pandan Plant.

Pandan is a tropical plant that grows abundantly in Southeast Asia. It is also known as the “fragrant plant” because of its unique, sweet aroma. The mature plant looks similar to a palm. The leaves are used to flavor many Southeast-Asian dishes including desserts.

The Pandan Plant I Received

The product description stated that the plant was 13-18 inches tall. I measured the plant I received to be 17 inches tall.

The full description from seller: “Live pandan plant well rooted over 6 months in a pot. This is homegrown and organic.”

The description was accurate — I received a plant with substantial roots. It was in good condition and the roots had some soil around them. However, this plant is now out of stock.
